Floral Creations

Unique paper floral art from original designs, crafted entirely by hand.
No machines or commercial patterns allowed! No watering required!

Botanicals that Endure

The essence of a flower expressed through paper, wire, glue, and imagination. Crepe paper can be sculpted, and hand-painting is key.

Flowers as an Art Form

Inspired by nature, and any color, including shades of white, is fair game.

Handcrafted Creations

Inspired by both real and ideal botanicals. Like this Centaurea.

Wild Flowers

Vibrant hues and a variety of forms and textures.

The Art and Craft of Crepe Paper Flowers

I create floral art from crepe paper, wire and glue, completely by hand. Along the way, the original paper may get fringed, crimped, twisted, tinted or dyed with inks, pastels, acrylic paint, tea, spices, or whatever else is at hand. My only rules are: original designs; no commercial patterns; and no machines.

Botanical accuracy is optional - sometimes it is just about the impression a flower makes on you. The intent is to capture that moment of happiness a lovely flower can give, and allow it to linger ...

Crepe paper florals last - they don't wilt and they don't need water (and they won't make you sneeze). No variety is too exotic or rare - the season, climate, and growing conditions are always right! There's no end to the varieties of flowers, both real and in my imagination, and therein lies both the challenge and the fun!

As Alice in Through the Looking Glass said: '...though she managed to pick plenty of beautiful rushes as the boat glided by, there was always a more lovely one that she couldn't reach. " The prettiest are always further ! " '

Everyone experiences flowers differently... so I aim for lots of variety in my work

About the artist

I'm Valerie Holliday, and working with crepe paper has become my passion. A snap decision led to making hundreds of flowers for my daughter's wedding. To my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, and learned that crepe paper blooms make people happy. So I decided to keep creating flowers and growing my skills as an artist. It is my pleasure to share my ever-evolving portfolio with you through this website. I am a proud member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, Haverford Chapter. Currently, I exhibit at select crafts shows and will consider inspiring commissions. I've developed an introductory flower-making class as well.
